Bible Exploration and Study
Holy Ambition – A Study of Nehemiah Eric Bryan / Chris Cadieux
What is the strategic plan for your life, your family, and your ministry? Strategic plans are not just for churches, large corporations, or people with the gift of leadership. Together we will learn to apply principles from the book of Nehemiah to our lives, our marriages, our children, and the personal ministry that God has given each of us. Join us for a study based on the Chip Ingram book, Holy Ambition, and learn what it takes to make a difference for God.
Psalms – Delight Yourself in the Lord Matthew Goodman / Mark Steele
The Psalms are often cited as the most beloved portion of Holy Scripture and for a whole host of reasons. Our aim in this class is simple: to deepen our love for God through the study of His character and work in this wonderful book of songs we call Psalms
Obviously we won’t have time to plumb the depths of all 150 Psalms, but we will explore several selections in varying levels of detail. We will observe how the life experiences of the psalmists are expressed to God in a variety of forms. Whether praise or lament, all serve to magnify the glory of God while demonstrating His sufficiency for all the circumstances of life.
Foundations of Our Faith
The Truth Project – Part Two Ron VanCamp
This is the second half of the course that began in January and intended for those who completed Part One. Even though you were enrolled in Part One, please register again for Part Two.
The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group curriculum comprised of 13 video lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett, President of the Focus on the Family Institute. This study is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life. We will cover ethics, philosophy, science, history, the church, work, the arts and other subjects over the 14 sessions that we meet. This will require both the winter and spring impact sessions to cover the entire course. This could well be one of the most significant studies you undertake that will transform your thinking and your ability to communicate the gospel to a secular world.
Family Life
Parenting 1 Scott Johnson
Parents, our children can (and should) be one of the greatest joys God gives us. Yet as parents we often feel challenged, concerned, intimidated, and sometimes even helpless in this crucial role. “How can I get my kids to do what I want – and without the whining? Why does it seem my kids are the ones in control – and how did we get here? What about spanking? Am I being too strict (or permissive)? When, and how, should we discuss sex? My kids know I love them, right?”
We’ll answer these, and a lot more, questions as we explore God’s plan for parenting relationships. Come gain a new perspective on the wondrous opportunity we have to shepherd the children God Himself has loaned specifically to us. And plan to finish the course with the confidence in your ability as a parent and in God’s magnificent purpose for your role in the lives of your kids.
Electives
Adonai – A study of The Names of God
Developing a working understanding of the nature and character of God will change your everyday life.
This working study of God’s names in scripture is a discovery process including the historical view, systematic theology and how that is meant to impact our lives in 2009. Structured for the beginner or advanced student, each week we will explore one or more of the names of God from scripture. Each session will include teaching, active discussion as well as workshop time in a group setting.
By looking at the historical context, we will see how God revealed Himself and determine how we should apply these principles to our lives. This exploration will result in a more complete view of God that will influence your life from prayer to business ethics to parenting or school peer interaction.
