The Church Goes Worldwide

Following the Reformation, we continue to see the joining of the church and state. But as this period begins, the lines are drawn between Catholic and Protestant areas of Europe. We find Europe expanding into other areas of the world. How would that expansion affect the church? There was no longer one Church. Eastern Orthodoxy dominated the East. Europe was split between the Catholics and the Protestants. What would happen to the church as Christianity spreads into new areas? Would the centrality of the Scriptures prevail within the church? Would the church be faithful to the Great Commission? Would the pursuit of personal holiness continue? How would the church impact the expanding world? How would it stand up to the new intellectual challenges both from within and from without? The church has weathered many a storm up to this point and we have the promise that our Lord will prevail no matter what comes. He will continue to build His Church.

Parenting 2 - Sex Education in the Christian Home
(For parents of children ages 3 through 18)

Sex. Less than 15% of us, as kids, had any meaningful discussion with our own parents on this critical topic. And it wouldn't make our top-100 list of things we want parents on this critical topic. And it wouldn't make our top-100 list of things we want to discuss with our kids. What should we say, and when? Who should do it, and how? And can we really encourage our kids to make a pledge of purity until marriage, if we have mistakes in our past? It's no wonder we find this so intimidating! We'll take these challenges head-on, de-intimidate this topic for parents, and provide specific, age-appropriate guidelines so parents can have a healthy, longterm dialogue with their kids on God's gift of human sexuality. We'll also see what God's word has to say about some "hot topics" that parents need to understand. This class can boost your confidence in the critically important role of educating your kids about God's magnificent gift of sexuality.

Disciplines of a Godly Man (Men)

"Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." (emphasis added)

The word "train" comes from the word gumnos, and is the word from which we derive our English word gymnasium. Paul is saying "Gymnasticize (exercise, work out, train) yourself for the purpose of godliness". In a word, he is calling for some spiritual sweat! We will never get anywhere in life without discipline, be it in the arts, business, athletics, or academics. An athlete may be born with a strong body, a musician with perfect pitch, or an artist with an eye for perspective, but none of us can claim an innate spiritual advantage. In reality, we are all equally disadvantaged. According to Romans 3:9-18 none of us naturally seeks after God, none is inherently righteous, none instinctively does good. Therefore, as children of grace, our spiritual discipline is everything! "In Disciplines of a Godly Man, Pastor Kent Hughes provides an inspiring and practical guide for men who seek to reflect God's glory in their lives. This book is a challenging text for personal devotions as well as for assisting young followers of Christ to grow in their walk with God." - Lieutenant General Howard D. Graves, U.S. Army, retired; former superintendent United States Military Academy, West Point.

JONAH - Navigating a Life (Women)

Priscilla Shirer is the author of this wonderful study of the book of Jonah. She reminds us that, you can't escape life's interruptions. They shock us; they shake us; they compel us to change. You can't escape life's interruptions, but you can change your perspective on them. In this class, we dive into the study of Jonah and discover that what you see as an interruption may truly be God's divine invitation to a life so much bigger than you can imagine.
