Bible Exploration and Study
1st Timothy Jerry Johnson / Hank Haines The apostle Paul, in the book of 1st Timothy, is providing his protégé with an instruction manual to assist him with his oversight responsibilities for the church of Ephesus. In this instruction manual, Paul covers a wide variety of issues in the church which need to be addressed that include, but are not limited to: fighting the good fight of faith, instruction for women in regards to their need to dress modestly, the church’s need for prayer, the qualifications for elders and deacons, the godly disciplines of a pastor, the orderly handling of widows in the church, and the dangers of material wealth. During our eight weeks together, we will explore the six inspired chapters of this wonderful book to see how they apply to our roles and responsibilities as godly men and women at Fellowship Bible Church. This is a Bible book study. Therefore, we will not be working at the direction or from the perspective of an author who is outside of our FBC family. Rather, we will trust in the clarity of the text itself and the power of the Holy Spirit to lead each member of our group to an understanding of how to personally apply this Truth to our lives! Please join us as we selflessly pursue the pleasurable and painful truths that are contained in this instruction manual! We know that this Truth is God-breathed and is designed to teach us, rebuke us and encourage us in our walks with the Lord Jesus Christ! To Him be the glory!
Foundations of Our Faith
Time Alone with God: Moving from Routine to Relationship Mark Steele Authentic connection with others occurs when we entrust our hearts to them with the expectation that they care and will respond in a way that makes us feel understood and loved, and vice versa. Don’t most of us want that kind of relationship with God? Throughout the Bible we encounter a God who interacts intimately with His children. To relate closely to God, we must learn how He speaks to us and how we can openly and deeply share with Him from our heart. After all, it’s impossible for two people to connect if they can’t communicate with each other. Having a consistent, meaningful daily quiet time is indispensable to a vital relationship with God. It is in that time alone with God that the spiritual battle is most often won or lost. A daily experience of quiet time, including Bible reading and prayer, a time alone for spiritual renewal and inner strength, will shape not only the day, but our character as well. Learn the purpose and benefits of spending time daily alone with God, and also the ingredients and practical “how-to’s” of a quiet time.

Family Life
Parenting 101 Scott Johnson Parents, our children can (and should) be one of the greatest joys God gives us. Yet as parents we often feel challenged, concerned, intimidated, and sometimes even helpless in this crucial role. “How can I get my kids to do what I want – and without the whining? Why does it seem my kids are the ones in control – and how did we get here? What about spanking? Am I being too strict (or permissive)? When, and how, should we discuss sex? My kids know I love them, right?” We’ll answer these, and a lot more, questions as we explore God’s plan for parenting relationships. Come gain a new perspective on the wondrous opportunity we have to shepherd the children God Himself has loaned specifically to us. And plan to finish the course with the confidence in your ability as a parent and in God’s magnificent purpose for your role in the lives of your kids.
Advanced Doctrine
My Church / His Body (Ecclesiology) Ron VanCamp Ecclesiology is a branch of Christian theology that deals with the doctrines pertaining to the Church itself as a community or organic entity, and with the understanding of what the "church" is: its origin, its discipline, its destiny and its leadership. We will look at scripture to determine what plan God has for the church – this bride of Christ; at history to see God’s hand in the molding of the church to what we see today; at existing churches to see how they try to make this happen in current culture. Where do the FBC three vital relations fit into all of this? How can I see God’s plan for the church helping me to become what God wants me to be? We will get very practical in how all of the scripture on Ecclesiology is worked out in FBC and each one of us.

Sacrificing TRUTH on the altar of CULTURAL RELEVANCE: The Emerging Church Movement Rick Griffith / Heath Casey “What is this emerging church I keep hearing about?” Unfortunately it is not an easy term to define.. To borrow a tired cliché, defining the emerging church is much like trying to nail Jell-O to the wall. To the frustration of its critics, and to the delight of its advocates, the emerging church has successfully resisted boundaries, categories, and labels. Emerging catches into one term the global reshaping of how to "do church" in postmodern culture. However, if “doing church” involves sacrificing the fundamental Gospel of Christ, then how are we to react? We will show the dangers inherent in the emergent movement’s unwillingness to take stands even on doctrines closest to the heart of the Christian faith. We will be applying emerging church leader, Rob Bell’s, advice given on the back of Velvet Elvis to the entire emerging church: “Test it. Probe it. Don’t swallow it uncritically. Think about it. Wrestle with it.” We will also introduce principles of Spiritual Discernment every Christian needs to critically evaluate the messages attempting to define the Gospel coming from many sources. Utilizing Evangelicals Engaging Emergent: A Discussion of the Emergent Church Movement by Thom S. Rainer, this eight-week study will answer key questions brought up by the emergent movement such as; Is God knowable? and; Should we mix Eastern Mystic practices with Christianity?
