Meaningful Membership

Relationships thrive on commitment. The New Testament shows us that following Jesus is meant to be lived out in the context of a committed local church. Here at Fellowship, we believe church membership is both a tremendous gift and responsibility from God.

We seek to carry out a simple four step process through these steps:

Becoming a Member

Membership begins with Starting Point, our 2 week prospective members class. This class is designed to give you a clear picture of who we are as a church and what it means to belong here. We’ll walk through what the Bible says about:

• Our Mission and Values: What drives us and keeps us centered on Christ

• Our Statement of Faith: The biblical convictions that shape our teaching and life together

• Our Expectations: What you can count on from us as your church family, and what it looks like to commit as a member

Once you’ve completed Starting Point and prayerfully considered membership, the next step is a personal conversation with one of our pastors or elders. We call this a Membership Interview, though it’s really more of a relational time to:

• Share some basic biographical information

• Tell your story of how God saved you and how He is at work in your life today

• Ask any remaining questions about our church, faith, or ministry

This conversation is meant to make sure we know you personally and can walk alongside you in your desire to formally join our church family.

After your membership interview, we take time to thank God for your story and pray for you as an elder team. We will share a summary of your testimony with the rest of the elders so that we can celebrate God’s work in your life and affirm your desire to join the church.

After the elders have affirmed your desire for membership, the final step is to formally welcome you into our church family.

The final step in the membership process is a joyful one: being introduced to the church during a Sunday service. This is our way of welcoming you into the family and making sure our church knows you by name.

By introducing new members publicly, we’re reminded that membership is a shared responsibility where we commit to following Christ together.
